Karnataka Election 2023: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the ruling political party in India, has announced 222 candidates for the elections to the 224-member Karnataka assembly. According to the Election Commission’s (EC) schedule of events, the counting of votes is on May 13. The state has 5.24 crore voters and 58,282 polling stations. Karnataka will largely witness a triangular fight between the ruling BJP, the Congress, and the Janata Dal (Secular). The party needs to cross the halfway mark of 113 in order to form the government in the state.

BJP’s first list has 8 women Candidates, 52 new faces

The BJP announced its first list of candidates in 189 constituencies on Tuesday, fielding 52 new faces and eight women candidates. Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai will contest from his Shiggaon constituency. Meanwhile, former CM B S Yediyurappa’s son B Y Vijayendra will be contesting from his father’s Shikaripura constituency. C T Ravi, BJP national general secretary will contest from Chikkmagaluru seat.

BJP Releases second list of 23 candidates for Karnataka polls

Earlier in the month of April, the BJP released its second list of 23 candidates for the May 10 Karnataka assembly elections. The party aims to retain power in the southern state by winning a majority in the 224-seat assembly. Former chief minister and six-term MLA Jagadish Shettar did not find a place on the list, which led him to join the Congress party.

BJP Announces 3rd list of 10 candidates for Karnataka Assembly polls

The ruling BJP on Monday announced candidates for 10 more constituencies. The party has fielded state BJP General Secretary Mahesh Tenginkai from the Hubli-Dharwad Central Assembly segment. Former Minister and MLA Aravind Limbavali’s wife Manjula Arvind Limbavali has got the ticket for the Mahadevapura Constituency, the party has fielded Katta Jagadish, son of former Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu from Hebbal.
