Glenn Maxwell is Now Tied With Rohit Sharma For Most T20I Centuries

Guwahati: Glenn Maxwell was like a man possessed in Guwahati on Tuesday as he single-handedly took Australia over the line in a nail-biting third T20I to keep their hopes alive. Maxwell hit a breathtaking 104* off 48 balls to bring up his fourth T20I century. With the century, Maxwell also matched India captain Rohit Sharma for the most number of T20I centuries. It is surely a feat Maxwell will savor.

Most T20I hundreds
4 – Rohit Sharma
4 – Glenn Maxwell
3 – Babar Azam
3 – Sabawoon Davizi
3 – Colin Munro
3 – Suryakumar Yadav

Thanks to his brilliant show, not only did Australia win the game by five wickets, but Maxwell also bagged the player of the match. Admitting that it is not easy to bowl yorkers with the dew on the ground, Maxwell claimed everything happened quickly.

“It all went pretty quickly. It was hard work for them to bowl yorkers with so much dew. We didn’t really have a number in mind. Knew we would be in the game if we could take it down to the final over. Wade had to be out there to cash in with Axar having one over left towards the end. Wade was brilliant out there, the way he went helped me as well,” Maxwell said at the post-match presentation.

“You don’t get much better than that. It was hard work. Injury to Kane (Richardson) threw a spanner in the works and had to bowl Maxi in the last over. He played brilliantly, got a 100 in his 100th T20I. Wouldn’t say I was confident, I was a bit grumpy going in at the halfway mark. Thought we were in the game at 190 after the 19th over but the last over went for 30. Richardson hurt himself so I was one over short. All in good fun in the end, Maxi probably wouldn’t have got a 100 if he didn’t toss up 30 in that over,” Australia captain Matthew Wade on Maxwell’s heroics.
