Purnia Constituency, Bihar Lok Sabha Election 2024: Purnia is one of the 40 Lok Sabha Constituency in Bihar and serves as a major transit point for routes leading to Nepal and Northeast India. It comprises six assembly seats – Dhamdaha, Purnia, Kasba, Banmankhi, Rupauli, and Korha. RJD has nominated Bima Bharti to contest from Purnia Lok Sabha seat. Pappu Yadav, who recently merged his party Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) into Congress, wants to contest from the Purnia seat which ignited a news tussle in the India Bloc. JDU has fielded Santosh Kumar from the seat.
Purnia Constituency: 2019 Elections
In the political round of Lok Sabha elections back in 2019, Santosh Kumar, a representative of the JD(U), claimed victory in the Purnia constituency. He earned a notable count of 632924 votes, outstanding among his competitors. His nearest rival, Uday Singh, fondly known as Pappu Singh of the INC, could gather only 369463 votes. Enjoying a substantial lead by 263461 votes, Santosh Kumar clinched the title.
