Chandrababu Naidu, Nitish Kumar Give Support To Modi 3.0; Here’s What JDU And TDP Have Demanded | Report

New Delhi: Just as the ink dried on the proclamation of the Lok Sabha Election 2024, stalwarts from two political quarters—Chandrababu Naidu of the TDP and Nitish Kumar of the JD(U)—resoundingly pledged their allegiance to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the Bharatiya Janata Party. With a nod from these key allies, the NDA has crossed the critical majority mark of 272 seats. They could be seen assuming the reins of the government as early as this weekend.

Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar met with NDA leaders in New Delhi on Wednesday to discuss the formation of a new government.

Probable Demands Of Nitish Kumar

Nitish Kumar, the key figure from JD(U), is predicted to negotiate essential roles, particularly in the agriculture department, for his party members. It’s no secret that JD(U) is eyeing two Cabinet posts, owing to BJP’s need for allied backing to maintain their reign. Additionally, whispers suggest that Bihar’s Chief Minister may lay claim to the Railways, Agriculture, or Industries Ministries.

Simultaneously, other political heavyweights aren’t holding back either. Eknath Shinde from Shiv Sena and Chirag Pawan, president of the Lok Janshakti Party, are both in the race for significant ministerial capacities, as per a report by news agency New18.

Probable Demands Of TDP

The TDP is deeply engaged in conversation, aiming to clinch the Lok Sabha Speaker’s role. They’re aware of the speaker’s pivotal function when it comes to the anti-defection law. This calculated strategy to secure the speaker’s seat has a clear purpose – to protect partners within the alliance from possible discord down the line.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Wednesday said TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and JDU’s Nitish Kumar, whose support is key to the formation of the next government, have to decide whether they want to join hands with an autocrat, a remark apparently aimed at the BJP leadership.

Shiv Sena Comments On Chandrababu and Nitish

Talking to reporters, Raut said his party will not oppose if Congress leader Rahul Gandhi decides to lead the INDIA bloc government and be the prime ministerial face.

The INDIA bloc leaders will meet in New Delhi on Wednesday to discuss the further course of action.Raut also said PM Modi should accept that he has faced moral defeat as his party did not get a majority to form the government and that the Modi brand is now finished.

“Chandrababu and Nitish Kumar have to decide whether they want to go with an autocrat and work in a democratic system. I don’t think they will go with an autocrat,” Raut said.

“Modi ji is not forming a government for the third time,” he claimed.

As per the Lok Sabha election results, the BJP has bagged 240 seats, 32 short of an absolute majority.

With support from key allies N Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Nitish Kumar’s JD(U), which won 16 and 12 seats in Andhra Pradesh and Bihar, respectively, and other alliance partners, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) crossed the halfway mark.
