The India women cricket team led by Smriti Mandhana will look to book their berth in the final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 as they take on Bangladesh women team in the semifinal clash at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla on Friday. India are heading into the knockout stages with an all-win record, including a comprehensive win over arch-rivals Pakistan in the group stages.
Mandhana’s Indian side hammered Nepal women team by 82 runs in their final group stage clash with skipper choosing not to bat at all in the final game. Opener Shafali Verma was the star of the win, smashing 81 off 48 balls while replacement opener Dayalan Hemalatha scored 47 off 42 balls in the match.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, finished second in the Group standings, losing to hosts Sri Lanka and winning their other two matches out of three. They hammered Malaysia Women team by 114 runs in their final group game to book their berth in the semifinals. Skipper Nigar Sultana scored an unbeaten 37-ball 62 while opener Murshida Khatun top-scored with the bat scoring 80 off 59 balls.
