She disclosed that their grandfather are brothers. Her grandfather was the older brother of Priyamani’s grandfather. But till now they had met him only twice. Once at an awards ceremony and again at a party hosted by Shahrukh Khan.
Priyamani started her career in movies when she was just eighteen years old. In 2003, the Telugu film Evare Atagaadu marked her debut release. She became well-known after winning the National Award for Best Actress in 2007 for her role in the Tamil film Paruthiveeran. Before starring in the multilingual smash Rakta Charitra, she made her Bollywood debut in a supporting role in Mani Ratnam’s Raavan. She then gained recognition for her performance in item number 1-2-3-4 alongside Shah Rukh Khan in Chennai Express. With her portrayal of Suchi in the popular online series The Family Man, which starred Manoj Bajpayee, she became a celebrated name in the Hindi cinema industry in 2019.
Priyamani reunited with Shah Rukh in the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2023, Jawan, securing her most notable part to date. She subsequently starred in a supporting capacity in Neru, directed by Mohanlal, and in the lead role of Bhamakalapam 2, a Telugu movie. She appeared in the Bollywood sleeper blockbuster Article 370 in 2024 in a supporting capacity. Her films have made over Rs 1300 crore at the box office in the past year, with three of them surpassing the Rs 100 crore milestone.
Throughout her career, Priyamani has worked with various top superstars, including Shah Rukh Khan, Mohanlal, Nagarjuna, Suriya, Dulquer Salmaan, Vikram, Abhishek Bachchan. Strangely enough, though, she has virtually never taken centre stage alongside the bigger names. Before her most recent film, Maidaan, in which she plays Ajay Devgn’s wife, she was more often seen assisting big names than starring alongside them.
