Will schools, colleges in Delhi-NCR reopen from Tuesday? after Supreme Court hearing, Air Quality Panel issues…

Delhi Air Pollution: Amid the deteriorating air quality in Delhi-NCR, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on Monday issued an order to state governments to ensure that schools (up to Class 12), colleges, and other educational institutions operate in a ‘hybrid’ mode. The order followed the Supreme Court’s direction earlier in the day, asking the CAQM to consider reopening physical classes in the region.

The bench, consisting of Justice Abhay S. Oka and Justice Augustine George Masih, observed that students cannot have their mid-day meals and lack the necessary resources to attend virtual classes. The bench also noted that several students do not have air purifiers at home and suggested no major difference in air quality exposure whether they stay at home or attend physical classes in schools.

“The CAQM is expected to take a decision during the course of the day or latest by tomorrow morning so that it can be implemented from Wednesday,” the bench said.
