Vicky Kaushal’s film Chhaava is raking in moolah at the box office. Released on February 14, the movie has crossed Rs 100 crore in just three days. Now, as per early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, the movie will soon cross Rs 200 crore. The Day 6 collection of Chhaava is Rs 32 crore, according to Sacnilk. Seeing the immense love the movie is receiving, Chhaava has been made tax-free in THIS state of India. While many may think it is Maharashtra, it is not.
On Wednesday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that the period drama Chhaava would be tax-free in the state. Yadav made the announcement while speaking at a program in Jabalpur on the 395th birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire.
“Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, sacrificed his life for the country and religion while enduring all sorts of torture. A movie named Chhaava, based on his life, has been released. When such an excellent movie is made, why should we collect tax on it? I want to announce that from now on, Chhaava will be tax-free in the state,” said Yadav.
Vicky Kaushal’s film is not slowing down and is being widely praised by the audience. The movie became the biggest opening of 2025 and the biggest opener of Kaushal’s career. Based on the life of Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the movie is helmed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under his banner Maddock Films.
In the film, Vicky essays the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, Rashmika Mandanna plays Sambhaji’s wife, Maharani Yesubai, and Akshaye Khanna portrays Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. Apart from these three, Divya Dutta, Ashutosh Rana, Vineet Kumar Singh, Diana Penty, and Neil Bhoopalam also feature in key roles.
