Ameesha Patel, who made her Bollywood debut with Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai alongside Hrithik Roshan, recently celebrated 25 years in the film industry. To mark the milestone, her debut film was re-released in theaters. In a recent interview, she opened up about her bond with actor Sanjay Dutt, describing him as extremely protective and caring towards her.
Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, Ameesha shared that Sanjay Dutt doesn’t allow her to wear shorts or western outfits when she visits his home. Instead, she is expected to wear traditional Indian clothes. “He is very protective and possessive of me. Whenever I go to his house, I have to be in a salwar-kameez. Sanju always tells me, ‘You are too innocent for this industry. I will find a suitable guy for you and even do your kanyadaan (giving away the bride at a wedding),’” she revealed.
Recalling an old photo of them together, where Sanjay is feeding her cake, Ameesha said, “He treats me like a kid and always looks out for me. He often texts me to check if I am okay. This picture was from one of my birthdays, celebrated at his house. It was a private party, and as you can see, I was wearing a salwar-kameez.”
Ameesha has been away from the limelight in recent years, with her last big-screen appearance in Gadar 2 (2023) alongside Sunny Deol. While rumours suggest that Gadar 3 is in the works, the makers have yet to confirm the project officially.
