The Ambani family, led by Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani, are always at the forefront when it comes to supporting the government’s policies of public welfare, social justice, and similar. One such occasion was witnessed during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed citizens to ring bells and bang metal plates on their rooftops to show support for doctors, healthcare workers, and police personnel, who were essentially fighting the pandemic on the frontlines.
Akin to millions of other families across the country, Mukesh Ambani, his wife Nita Ambani, and their sons — Anant Ambani and Akash Ambani, gathered on the rooftop of their Rs 15000 crore Antilia mansion located on Mumbai’s Altamount Road, to ring bells and bang thalis, to show their support for the pandemic warriors, as PM Modi had requested.
In a video from March 2020, when Covid-19 was spreading like wildfire across India and other parts of the world, the Ambanis, along with millions of others across India, banged metal utensils on their rooftop, acting upon PM Modi’s appeal to show support to those fighting the pandemic on the frontlines.

The unique ritual, which garnered widespread media attention, was part of a “Janata Curfew”, which PM Modi has urged citizens to observe to help curb the spread of Covid.
How Ambani family supported India’s fight against Covid-19?
Notably, apart from participating in gestures like these, the Ambanis, India’s richest family, also actively supported the fight against Covid-19 pandemic via donations and other sizable contributions. According to reports, Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Industries, India’s most valued firm, donated Rs 500 crore to a central government fund and Rs 5 crore each to the state governments of Maharashtra and Gujarat.
Additionally, the Ambani family distributed free meals and fuel for emergency vehicles during the pandemic.
