Residents living near toll plazas can now get some relief from regular toll payments. NHAI has moved its local pass system online, allowing eligible vehicle owners to apply for a Rs 350 monthly pass linked to their FASTag. The pass provides unlimited travel through designated nearby toll plazas for the entire month.
Who can get the Rs 350 pass?
Residents living within 20 km of an eligible toll plaza are eligible for the local pass facility. Once obtained for a private vehicle, the pass can help them avoid paying toll fees every time they travel through the designated plaza. This could be a convenient option for daily commuters, students, business owners and regular travellers.

The entire process for local pass is online
The local pass can now be applied for through NHAI’s Rajmargyatra app. The system will automatically verify the applicant’s vehicle and address details through government platforms, including DigiLocker and VAHAN. It will also use GIS technology to confirm whether the address falls within the 20-km eligibility limit.
What information will be checked?
The application may go through a digital verification process that will cover the applicant’s address, vehicle registration information, FASTag details linked to the vehicle, and the location of the applicant’s residence in relation to the toll plaza. The government says that this process will largely eliminate the need for manual checking and document verification.
Facility available at 121 toll plazas
The digital local pass facility is currently available at 121 toll plazas across India, NHAI said. Users can check the list of eligible toll plazas on the Rajmargyatra portal or mobile app. The authority plans to add more toll plazas to the system in the coming months.
