To recall, Trump was permanently suspended from X in January 2021 when the social media platform was known as Twitter. Musk lifted the ban after he bought the platform. Trump’s account was restored in August 2023.
Trump launched Truth Social, his own social media platform after being banned from Twitter.
Donald Trump’s account on X is @realDonaldTrump and his bio reads “45th President of the United States of America DonaldJTrump.com Joined March 2009.”
He has 88.1 million followers as of 23:27 IST which is a lot more than he has on Truth Social.
Platform X provides Trump with a significantly larger audience, boasting 600 million monthly active users as stated by Musk, in contrast to Truth Social’s smaller base of 5 million monthly active users, as disclosed in its IPO filings in March 2024 and reported by Axios. This substantial disparity in user reach between Platform X and Truth Social is likely to be noted by Trump, who is known for his focus on audience size at his election rallies and events.
Elon Musk, known for his support of Trump, is expected to conduct a friendly interview. However, given the former President’s reputation as a showman and his unpredictability, the interview is anticipated to be closely monitored by both his allies and the Harris campaign.
Donald Trump had the upper hand in the 2024 presidential elections till current President Joe Biden was in the fray. The race has changed since Biden dropped out and endorsed Kamala Harris.
Harris has energised the Democratic party, raised more funds and has taken the lead in polls, even in the key battleground states.
