WhatsApp Users, Backup Your Chats As The App Will Stop Working On THESE Android And iOS Smartphones

New Delhi: If you are an avid, regular user of Meta’s WhatsApp and have a lot of personal, official, or other important data on the app, then you must save all of it with a backup. This applies to both Android and iOS.

WhatsApp is set to end support for certain older Android and iOS smartphones, prompting users with these devices to promptly back up their chats to prevent the loss of important messages.

The platform regularly updates its app to uphold privacy and security standards, which entails discontinuing support for obsolete operating systems. Consequently, WhatsApp will cease to function on phones with Android versions below 4.0 and iOS versions prior to 11.

WhatsApp currently supports devices running Android 5.0 or later and iOS 11 or higher. Users with older operating systems will need to upgrade their devices to use the app without interruption. Although WhatsApp has not officially announced the affected smartphones, a report indicates that approximately 35 phone models will lose support for the app, including devices from major brands such as Samsung, Apple, Motorola, Sony, LG, and Huawei.

Samsung phones that will be affected include Galaxy Ace Plus, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Express 2, Galaxy Grand, Galaxy Note 3 N9005 LTE, Galaxy S II, Galaxy S4 mini I9190, Galaxy S4 mini I9192 Duos, and Galaxy S4 Zoom.

Apple phones that will be affected include iPhone 5, iPhone 6, iPhone 6S, and iPhone SE.
