To strengthen its strategic position for national security, it is imperative for India to develop a 6th-generation fighter jet by 2040. These aircraft will feature modern capabilities such as advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI), hypersonic performance, and a network-centric warfare system.
Such fighter jets will undoubtedly position India as a global defense leader. The 6th-generation fighter jet differs from previous generations of stealth jets, featuring Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T), which allows control of unmanned aerial vehicles through a single platform.
Artificial Intelligence offers help in taking decisions on targeting, navigation and threat analysis. It also features designs that can evade modern radar systems, Integration of high energy lasers or microwave weapons for air-to-air and air-to-ground combat.
These criteria are significant and will present both challenges and opportunities for the nation. They not only highlight the need for progress but also emphasize the importance of AI, networked designs, and propulsion.
