New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded folk-singer Maithili Thakur against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)’s Vinod Mishra. According to the exit poll, Maithili Thakur is likely to lose the election against RJD’s Vinod Mishra. The Bihar Assembly election 2025 was held in two phases – November 6 and 11 – with the counting scheduled for November 14. In the first phase of polling, i.e., November 6, the state witnessed a record voter turnout of 64.66 percent, the first in 27 years.
More than 7.4 crore voters across 38 districts cast their votes in both phases to decide the fate of 2,616 candidates. Bihar recorded a historic 67.13 percent voter turnout — the highest since 1951. Notably, female voter participation stood at 71.78 percent, surpassing the 62.98 percent turnout among male voters. Most exit polls have predicted a comfortable victory for the NDA, placing the Mahagathbandhan in the second spot. The majority forecasted between 130–160 seats for the NDA and 70–105 seats for the opposition alliance.
